A one-day retreat for listening beyond the inner critic

You may know the voice. It tells you to try harder and to be more. It often shows up before a meeting, or late in the evening when you finally sit down.
Listening to Yourself is a one-day retreat for people who would like a kinder relationship with that voice. Johanna guides a small group of people through three steps: become aware, pause, choose. You leave with practical tools and a personal plan written in your own workbook, and a one-hour debrief after the retreat helps you put them into practice.
Come with curiosity. You decide what you share, and nothing more is expected of you.

Imagine …..

waking up each day with a quieter, kinder relationship with yourself

what might become possible if you listened to yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you so readily offer others.

Listening to Yourself

is not about getting rid of the inner critic.

it is about developing a new relationship with yourself—one grounded in awareness, compassion, and trust.

Come and learn to listen differently, and to live differently.

You deserve this

About the venue

Hämeenlinna – Historic Castle Town by the Lake

Hämeenlinna is often regarded as Finland’s oldest inland town still in its original location. Set on the shores of Lake Vanajavesi in southern Finland, it combines a strong historical identity with parks, museums, and is also known as the birthplace of Jean Sibelius.

Our retreat venue is located within a 8-minute walk of Hämeenlinna railway station, making it easily accessible by train while providing a peaceful setting for reflection and learning.

That said, we recognise that the right environment matters. If your group would feel more at ease in a different location, we would be delighted to bring the retreat to you.

The Rhythm of the Day

Throughout the retreat, we will create space for both learning and reflection.

The day will include:

  • Guided learning and practical insights
  • Interactive exercises and gentle group activities
  • Meaningful conversations
  • Journaling and personal reflection
  • Time in nature
  • A nourishing lunch and moments to pause
  • Opportunities to connect more deeply with yourself and with others
  • Develop a personal plan after the retreat, and a private one hour debrief with Johanna.

Your host, facilitator and coach

Why This Retreat Matters to Me – The inspiration for this retreat comes from my own journey.

Many years ago, when my family and I immigrated for the first time, I became acutely aware of a loud and persistent inner voice. It told me I would never fit in, never belong, and never find meaningful work. It was critical, relentless, and difficult to ignore.

When I began my coach training, I discovered for the first time that there were practical tools for working with this inner dialogue. It was a revelation. I believed that if I learned enough, worked hard enough, and applied the tools correctly, the critical voice would eventually disappear.

It didn’t.

Further studies, including NLP and other personal development approaches, deepened my understanding, but the real shift came years later when I attended a program dedicated entirely to understanding the inner voices, beliefs, and patterns that so often hold us back.

What I learned changed my relationship with that inner voice.

Not because it became silent, but because it no longer had the same power over me. I discovered that the goal was not to eliminate the inner critic. The goal was to listen differently. That insight has shaped both my personal life and my professional work, and it is the foundation of the Listening to Yourself retreat. My hope is that this day offers you the same possibility: a kinder, wiser, and more supportive relationship with yourself

If you’re tired of living with a hard, constantly critical inner voice, I’m here for you. Johanna
